Adventures in The Air and in the MIddle East Introduction

It's been a long time since I've been on this website.  Cptsky Adventures was initially an attempt on my part to tell my stories of 40 years + of my love/hate affair with flying airplanes.   Well, my adventures have increased in some ways, and my aviation days are on the wane, perhaps due to my age, but mainly my diversity of important subjects which have increased in depth and breath.
I took my first position in the Middle East in the late 90's.   My work was with the Royal Saudi Naval Forces in al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.   I started out teaching English, and then went on into administration.  What impressed me the most was the Saudi Officers and Senior NCO's was how great they were to work with.  They were great people and gave me a chance to learn a great deal about how the navy works, and not only the Saudi Navy, but it's relationship with navy's of the world, the ships, traditions, weapons systems, and the discipline.  Impressed as I was it was my intention to return to the U.S. after a year and pursue my aviation career in an attempt to improve and move up in the aviation world.   After a short time with Miami Dade Community College developing a GED/ABE program that included developing a strong ESL program I was offered a positon with Gulfstream Airlines Ab Initio program as the Chief Flight Instructor.   It was a great position and I did a lot of flying, teaching ground school and being the primary Multi-Engine Instructor.  It was from that platform that the students went to the FAA Part 121 airline program.   I left that for a position as a captain with Cape Air and flew out of Hynasis, MA.   The training program there was though for me but I made it through just fine.  Then one sad day the attacks in what is now referred to and 9/11 cut that career short.   The flight schedules were cut in half, and it was not economically feasible for me to remain.   I retuned to my home in South Florida and took a position flying charter flights from Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.  to the Bahamas.    It was fun, but the pay was not good their either, and at last I realized that I needed to do something where I could actually make a living.   I was offered a teaching position with Raytheon in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, so off I went on another adventure.
Since then I have primarily worked in English Education in the Middle East, mainly in Saudi Arabia and did a short 2 year stint in Kuwait.   Since then I taught at Gulf University of Science and Technology (GUST) in Kuwait, then a year with Boz Allen in Jubail, SA, and now back at PMU
(Prince Mohammed University, Khobar, Saudi Arabia)   Now, at the tender age of 70 and still holding Certified Flight Instructor Ratings I'm seriously contemplating a permanate retirement to my home in
Gilford, New Hampshire and I'm looking forward to spending my full time with my lovely wife and my son, his wife, and my two young grand children.  So, in writing the Adventures of Cptsky I will not only tell stories about  flying, but others of my time in the Middle East.  Hope you will enjoy.
